إشعيا كلمة تعني: الرّبّ یخلّص. ومعنى هذه الكلمة یلخّص مضمون هذا الكتاب. فالرّبّ هو إله الخلاص. ولكن الخلاص الّذي یحمله الرّبّ هو غير ما ینتظر البشر. لهذا یبدو تعليم هذا الكتاب مدهشاً. أما فصوله الستة والستون فتنقسم إلى ثلاثة أقسام، وتقابل ثلاث حقبات من تاریخ شعب الله.
