ليس الكنز في الإسلام هو المال الكثير، ولكنه المال الذي لم تؤد زكاته. قال عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما: ما كان من مال تؤد زكاته فليس بكنز، وإن كان مدفوناً، وما ليس مدفوناً لا تؤدى زكاته، فإنه الكنز الذي ذكره الله تعالى في كتابه.
